ALOFATAUA KUMA
ALOFATAUA KUMA March 8, 1956 - April 6, 2015 Alofataua "Taua" Kuma passed away peacefully on April 6, 2015 at a hospice home in Kailua. Born in Kolofo'ou, Tonga, he was owner and president of Look Sharp Tonga, Ltd and KavaBoy. Devoted to his church, he was the chairman of the board of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga in USA. Taua graduated from Farrington and attended Leeward Community College and the seminary at Claremont College. He was crazy about rugby and played with the Hawaii Harlequins and was selected to play at the World Cup in New Zealand with the Hawaii USA team. He loved the ocean and would regularly swim the waters near Lanikai Boat Ramp. Taua was famous for his BBQs and loved his sashimi. Quite a green thumb, he planted pikake, gardenia, plumeria and his favorite puakenikeni for his wife so they could enjoy the beautiful fragrance in the soft breeze. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shirley Teruya Kuma; daughters: Sarah Kahelelani Hatsue Kuma, Anela Freeman, Ana Maria Kuma; son: Pala Tavake Kuma; brothers: Siaosi Maekafa Kuma -dec. (Lika), Pala Tavake Kuma -dec , and Atunaisa Ika Kafohengaue Kuma (Momi); sister: Ilaisaane Nau Halaevalu Hoeft (Uepi). Visitation is from 6-7 pm Friday, April 17, 2015 at First United Methodist Church on Beretania with a Tongan traditional service at 7 pm. Burial is 9 am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
