Matsuyo "Thelma" Kawate, 93, of Hilo, former proprietress of Kawate Seed Shop in Hilo, died at home. She was born in Hilo. She is survived by son Randy; daughters Karen Moyer, Laraine Yonemura, Maureen Izuno and Pearl Kawate-Sasaki; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Private services. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
