Richard Arthur Jaentsch, 87, of Hilo, a retired lead plant man and safety inspector for the Chevron Hawaii Refinery, a retired Coast Guard seaman and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Milton, Wash. He is survived by wife Mabel K.K.; son Phillip L.; daughters Jacqueline L.U. Jaentsch, Donnalyn N. Kalei and Debra A.L. Leopoldo; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Celebration of life at noon May 29 at Onekahakaha Beach Park.
