ELSIE KAM MOI (SEU) YOUNG
ELSIE KAM MOI (SEU) YOUNG Elsie Kam Moi (Seu) Young passed away peacefully on January 23, 2015 in Hacienda Heights, California. She was 86 years old. Born in Chinatown, Oahu, for 85 of those years she called Oahu home, moving to Los Angeles in 2013 to be close to her children. In 1950, Elsie married RIchard Kam Leong Young, who called her his "Bright Eyes" and "sparkling sapphire of the topics." They were married for 45 years. Elsie was very active in the Pearl City community, and in the 1960's helped make the Pearl City Regional Library a reality. Proud of her Chinese- Hawaiian heritage she volunteered at the Bishop Museum and conducted Chinatown walking tours for many years. In her "retirement" she was an enthusiastic member of the Pearl City Swim Club. Elsie had sparkling eyes and a beautiful smile that would light up a room. She loved good food and was an enthusiastic and accomplished cook/baker. Her other passion was flowers and she created artistic and original flower arrangements. She enjoyed traveling, delighted in meeting interesting people, and generously opened her home to travelers from around the world. She is survived by her children, Robert, Patricia, Michael and Kathleen; grandchildren, Joy, Jodie, Daniel, Kevin, and Kiley; sister, Hazel (Seu) Fantz; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Richard Young, and siblings Sung Dai Seu, Cordelia (Seu) Kong, and Dora Seu. A brief memorial service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) on July 8, 10:30 a.m., and her ashes placed with her husband's. A luncheon at Wah Kung Restaurant follows at noon (1151 Mapunapuna St, Honolulu, HI 9681).
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
