Tokuichi "Toku" Nakano, 96, of Naalehu, Hawaii, a retired machine shop and electrical supervisor for Kau Sugar Co. and the former Hutchinson Sugar Plantation, an independent electrical contractor and an Army veteran who served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II, died in Kau Hospital. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Congressional Gold Medal and French Legion of Honor medal. He was born in Honuapo, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Fusae, daughter Yvonne N. Heckman, sisters Shigeyo E. Sakamoto and Fujiyo V. Kuroyama, and three grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Committal services to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
