RICHARD (CHIP) LOREN ROHRER II
$nameRICHARD (CHIP) LOREN ROHRER II Richard (Chip) Loren Rohrer II passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 from complications resulting from an accidental fall. Chip was born in Pennsylvania on April 14, 1946 to Richard and Elaine Rohrer. He served in the Air Force from 1966 to 1970, and later Chip learned to fly gliders and he became a certified FAA flight instructor. He flew over 20,000+ glider flights with 8,000+ hours of flight time. Chip was a resident of Hawaii for 48 years and was actively involved with the Civil Air Patrol for over 40 years, and he taught hundreds of Civil Air Patrol cadets how to fly. His Grandfather, father, brother, nephew (student) and niece (student) are all pilots and involved in aviation activities. Please no flowers, but donations to the "Soar with Roar Foundation" which sponsors children from 13 to 17 in their endeavor to fly would be appreciated. Chip is survived by his two brothers, Lance (Bonnie) and Reed (Jean), and his nephew, Christopher Rohrer, and niece, Jennifer Rohrer. There will be a Celebration of Life and scattering of ashes near the Civil Air Patrol Hangar at the West end of Dillingham Airfield and Glider Port, Mokuleia, Hawaii on February 6, 2016 between 11am to 1pm. A picnic lunch will be part of the celebration.
