LOREN RICHARD SHIM Feb. 4, 2016 Loren Richard Shim, 66, Sales Director for Waikiki Resort Hotel, bid us his loving aloha. He fought his cancer like a true soldier, and we are so grateful for the time by his side to love and comfort him. Loren was born in Honolulu, and is survived by wife Glenna, daughters Tiare (Ryan) Mahoney, Tahnee, step children, Zachary Ishihara, Leah Ishihara, Alexander Anspach, mother Joyce Cowan, brother Mike (May), sister Susan. Loren graduated in 1967 from Punahou School, and in 1971 from the Naval Academy. After living on the mainland for several years working as an engineer for Martin Marietta, he moved back "home" and began a forty year career in the Hawaii Visitor Industry. He worked in different sales and marketing capacities for Hawaii Island Resorts, Wardair Hotels, and Aston Hotel and Resorts. Most of Loren's formative years were devoted to sports, and later in life he discovered his weekend occupation, on the golf course. True to his passion and love of the game, he played his last round just 10 days before he passed away. Although his energy was depleted, he managed a few holes before heading home earlier than usual. He walked in the door, put down his golf bag, and said, "this might be my last game." We know it wasn't his last game, he's in a beautiful place where they have special golf courses, and he's playing a great game, pain free. Me ke aloha a hui hou kakou... ....until we meet again, I love you Shim Private services.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
