ROBERT SHERRILL BARNES
Robert Sherrill Barnes, a lifetime Kamaaina was born in Honolulu May 18, 1920, passed away at Manoa Cottage Hospice August 26, 2012. He was a pilot in the Navy during World War II, flying throughout the Pacific until leaving the Navy in 1946 when he joined Hawaiian Airlines with 34 years of dedicated service. He had a total of 25,860 flying hours. Bob’s love of aviation was reflected in his love of building and flying radio controlled airplanes, and his pride of being a member of the QB’s (Quiet Birdmen) for retired pilots. Bob was an avid golfer and an admirer of beautiful women. He is survived by his three children, Susie, Jimmy and Debbie, 7 grandchildren Ethan, Leina, Cody, Shane, Michelle, Rob and Mike, and two great-grandchildren, Quin and Elik.
