Gilbert P. "Mr. B" Benevides Sr., 83, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii County Department of Water Supply water meter reader, retired sheet metal fabricator and an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Marie, son Gilbert P. Jr., daughters Natalie N. Chaves and Yvonne Caitano, brothers Anthony P. and William P., sister Fannie Gouveia, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
