$nameJOAN HAUNANI KESNER ACKERMAN Joan Haunani Kesner Ackerman of Honolulu, Hawaii passed quietly away on July 21, 2015 at her current place of residence. She was 86 years old. Devoted Mother, Wife of Warren B. Ackerman, she was formerly a Bishop Museum Docent, Member of the Daughters of Hawaii, and enjoyed many earlier years as a member of the Junior League of Honolulu, Waialae Country Club and Outrigger Canoe Club. She was an avid Tennis player, book reader, cooking enthusiast, and Francophile. A graduate of Punahou School - class of 45, she savored her friendships, loved her family life and traveling to far off destinations. She attended USC for 2 years prior to marrying in 1950, and belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at USC. She is daughter of Roy Clark Kesner Sr. and Thelma Kuulei Lewis of Honolulu. Grandparents: Blanche Dudoit and Charles Kuhio Lewis; Violet Armstrong and Wilfred Clark Kesner of California. Her brother Roy Clark Kesner Jr. and Sister in Law: Juliet Genevieve Beerman Kesner also of Honolulu Hawaii. Joan Haunani is survived by her Husband, Warren B. Ackerman, and children: Warren Brad Ackerman, Mary Jill Ackerman, Thomas Murrell Ackerman, daughter in law: Lorlee Strom Ackerman, granddaughters: Analee Kanani Ackerman, and Alana Grace Ackerman of Bend Oregon, and nephews Bill Kesner and Richard Kesner of Honolulu, HI. GAY ANN AUSTIN February 16, 1935 - August 1, 2015 Gay Ann Austin passed into the Lords embrace on August 1 at home after a heroic battle with breast cancer. Gay is survived by her husband of 37 years, James "Kimo" Austin, her four children, Kris McGee, Kelli MacDonald, Siana Austin Hunt and Jimmy Austin as well as their spouses and 9 grandchildren. Gay grew up with her parents Marjorie and Ray Fewell alongside her siblings Bonnie Link (deceased), twin sister, May Balding and younger brother Mike Fewell in Temple City, California. She attended Temple City Jr. High and Pasadena City College and enjoyed the idyllic farm life of rural California all the while nurturing her passion for adventure and excitement. An avid athlete Gay excelled in competitive water skiing, tennis, volleyball and paddle tennis. Following her sense of adventure and twin sister she moved to Hawaii in 1972 and added to her passions the beach and ocean sports whereupon she met her athletic match in Kimo Austin at the Outrigger Canoe Club. Together they embraced new frontiers in paddle boarding, canoe paddling, running marathons, skeet shooting and swimming. She loved to be involved in a myriad of activities, among her favorites were membership at the Outrigger Canoe Club, First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of Hawaii. She was a board Member of Hawaii Theatre and a dedicated 30 year volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. As a sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend Gay set the bar at an all time high. To know Gay was to love her, and be loved by her. She cherished and adored her family and countless friends. Gay was steadfast in her faith and secure in knowing that we will all be together again one day. Until then a hui hou. A celebration of life will take place at the Outrigger Canoe Club at 8:00am, Friday August 14th. JACQUELINE A. PARNELL

JACQUELINE A. PARNELL Jacqueline A. Parnell of San Anselmo died peacefully in her sleep on May 26, 2015. She is survived by her two sons, William Charles Blackford III of Mill Valley and Eric Edward Blackford of Warren, Oregon; her daughter, Meredith Parnell, of San Anselmo; and four grandchildren. Ms. Parnell was born into the California pioneer family of James Peter Anderson of Angel Ranch (Korbel) in Eureka, California in 1929. Her mother was Estelle Brandewie Anderson, originally from Cincinnati. She married William Charles Blackford, Jr of Eureka in 1949 and was graduated from Cal the following year, receiving her diploma while holding her infant son (one of her proudest moments!). Her husband was a teacher and a Navy Reserve pilot, later killed in action in the Korean War in 1953. She married Edward J. Parnell of Berkeley in 1958. They lived in Tiburon until 1973 when they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where they lived until Mr. Parnell's death in 2007. Ms. Parnell moved back to Marin in 2009. Ms. Parnell served on the Tiburon City Council for one year, from 1965 to 1966, and later on the Tiburon Planning Commission until 1973. She was active in the Ecumenical Association for Housing, founded by her good friend Martin Mackey of Belvedere, from its inception until her move to Hawaii, and was later delighted to return to Marin and see Hilarita Housing finally rebuilt and occupied. Ms. Parnell joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in San Francisco as an Environmental Planner in 1971, in the first year of its existence, and then worked for EPA in Hawaii before working for the State of Hawaii, first as an Environmental Planner and then as Director of the Office of Environmental Quality Control. In 1983 she left state employment to start her own environmental planning consulting firm in Honolulu and worked on many projects in Hawaii until her retirement in 2005. During this time she was active in the League of Women Voters. After living at Drake Terrace in San Rafael, Ms. Parnell moved in with her daughter, Meredith, and Meredith's family, in December of 2012, and was living with her at the time of her death. There was no funeral service. The family requests that donations be made to the San Francisco/Marin Food Bank, the League of Women Voters, the Nature Conservancy or to any of the many California and/or Hawaii conservation organizations. $nameEUGENE BUGSY EARL PERRY Eugene "Bugsy" Earl Perry, 77, of Honolulu, passed away on July 19, 2015. He grew up in, Kauai and graduated from Waimea High School. He was a retired carpenter with the Hawaii Carpenters Union and Hawaii State Department of Education (office of school facilities & support services). He is survived by his wife, Gloria, daughters, Jennifer Porter (Carl) and Marisa Sanchez (Richert) and grandchildren, Risa and Austin. He was a devoted family man and never missed watching and cheering on his grand- children when they participated in team sports and performing arts. He was a generous and fun-loving character who enjoyed telling jokes, watching sports of any kind, fishing, and his favorite pastime, surfing at Waikiki beach. He always had a smile for everyone and will be missed by his many friends. He is deeply loved by his family. There will be a private scattering of his ashes. The family requests no flowers and if desired in lieu of monetary offerings, a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory.
