Age 74, of Pearl City, HI, passed away Dec. 30, 2016 in Honolulu. She was born June 28, 1942 in Honolulu. She is survived by son, Gregory (Jenni) Saguid; daughter, Debbie Brown; brothers, Edward (Lovy) Lapot, Michael (Jessica) Lapot, Gabriel (Danette) Lapot; sisters, Carol (Howard) Toma, Lourdes (Frederico) Lorenzo Jr.; 2 grand- children and 4 great-grand- children. Visitation 9:00 a.m., Wednesday (Feb. 8) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Family progran 10:30 a.m. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Burial 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Philip Suen Tien “Tenny” Ching

Philip Suen Tien 83, of Honolulu, passed peacefully on January 14, 2017. Philip was born on August 7, 1933 to George Chin Choy Ching and Rose Meu Lin (Chock) Ching. He is survived by wife Shrue, his children by his late ex-wife Sadako Warren Etse, sons Warren Wo On "Sonnyboy" (Youmilane), George Keoki Kalanui (Joan) and daughter Phyllis Rose Mahealani (Domsiano). Philip is additionally survived by his step-daughters Arleen and Evangeline, step- sons Augustine Kohler (Lisa), Randy Ching (Lorynne) and Joas Suda, 32 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, as well as brothers Francis (Carolyn), and Bernard (Alfreda), and sister Theresa (Newton) Nakamoto. Philip was a graduate of Saint Louis High School and was a beloved and devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, grand- father, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Philip worked for Global Associates on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands and in several sports related capacities with the State, National and college levels, within the Federated States of Micronesia. Phil was well known for his strong advocacy in mentoring youth involvement in sports. After his retirement, he returned to Honolulu. Services on February 11, 2017 at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel. Public viewing and visitation at 10:30 am; service at 11:30 am. Burial service at 3 pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha/casual attire. No flowers. Doris Conselva, age 92 of Pearl City, Hawaii died on January 30, 2017. Born on June 30, 1924 in Papaikou, HI. Doris graduated from Waipahu High School in 1942 and worked from 1942-1980 at Barbers Point. Survivors include her husband of 68 years Ewa Conselva; three children Yolene Fekel (Richard), Dwane Conselva (Sharon), and Whalan Conselva; two grand- children Jocelyn Zelasko (John), David Fekel (Kathryn) and two great grand children; siblings Mercedes Barcelona, Helen Barcelona, Henry Duhaylongsod and Joseph Duhaylongsod. Doris was succeeded in death by her parents: Caytano and Alejandra Duhaylongsod and siblings: Tomas Ramos, Alyse Ramos, Joshua Ramos, and Roger Ramos. Visitation 4:00 p.m. Monday (Feb. 6) at Waipahu United Church of Christ; funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Aloha attire.

Alexander Joseph Belén GotayAlexander Joseph Belén Gotay, age 30, of West Vancouver, BC died in Vancouver on December 28, 2016. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Carolyn, and sister, Mara, all of West Vancouver; his grandmother, Joan E. Jones, of Las Vegas, NV; his aunt and uncle, Pam Cook and Paul Gietzel of San Rafael, CA; his cousin, Kevin Gietzel of Rosedale, CA, and his devoted cat, Stella. Alex was born in Annapolis, MD and spent most of his life in Kailua, where he graduated from Mid-Pacific Academy. He was an accomplished classical trumpeter, performing at the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), the Banff Centre (Banff, AB), the Transylvania Symphonic Orchestra (Brevard, NC), Le Domaine Forget (QC) and on From the Top (National Public Radio). He studied at the Peabody Conservatory of John Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) and was a member of the Hawai'i Youth Symphony. Alex was a world traveler, having visited five continents before the age of 20. He was also certified as a scuba diver and sailor and was an avid snowboarder. He worked in sales but was preparing for a new career as a personal trainer at the time of his death. He is missed by heartbroken friends around the world. A Celebration of Life will be held in West Vancouver around Memorial Day (contact mark.j.gotay@gmail.com).
