Barbara Kimika Ideta, 75, was born on August 09, 1935 in Kalihi, Hawaii, and passed away on September 03, 2010.
She served as the CEO of the Queen's Federal Credit Union. She earned her nursing certificate ('56), BSN from Hawaii Pacific University ('89) and her MS from the University of Hawaii at Manoa ('93). Her esteemed career included service to One Kalakaua, Pacific Health Research Institute, Kuakini Medical Center, Maunalani Nursing Home, and Queen's Medical Center. Her extensive community and volunteer service included contributions to Kahuku Hospital; Soroptomist International of Waikiki Foundation, Inc.; Japanese Women's Society; Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs; State Board of Nursing; American Organization of Nurse Executives, Hawaii; Hospice Hawaii; Healthcare Association of Hawaii; Laura Jean Armstrong Scholarship program; National League of Nurses; Hawaii League of Nurses; American Red Cross; and Kokua Nurses. She was the recipient of the 2007 Hawaii Pacific University Paul C.T. Loo Distinguished Alumni Professional Achievement Award.
She is survived by brother Melvyn H., sisters-in-law Jayne and Evelyn, nephew Lance, and niece Lori.
