JOHN ARTHUR GOMES, JR
John "Little Man" Gomes, 69, of Honolulu, passed away surrounded by his family on Oct. 19, 2010. A retired HECO supervisor, he is survived by wife Dianna; sons John III and David (Estrella); grandson Mason John; mother Mabel Gomes; brothers Jarry and James; hanai "kids" Stephen Mendenhall and Rosemary Sylva. John was an active Scottish Rite Mason 32∫ Knight Commander Court of Honor; a member of original "Bud Crew" BPOE Lodge 616 and OES Harmony #4.
Known for his quiet but clever wit, John was always quick to lend a helping hand. His gift of woodworking was shared through his many hand crafted Koa jewelry boxes, bracelets and hair ornaments. He took pride in his carpentry and masonry skills, as evident in his stone walls and other projects. His kindness, generosity and loyalty were well known. "Little Man" will be dearly missed.
Visitation: November 20, 10 am, Diamond Head Memorial Park; Service: 11 am; Interment: 2:30pm, Valley of the Temples. No Flowers.
