74Mervin L. “Unko Merv” Kawainui, 51, of Kaneohe, formerly of Papakolea, a certified fire sprinkler fitter for the State of Hawaii Local 675 and 669, died in North Hawaii Community Hospital on Hawai island. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Lurline Wreath; sons Kawehi and Kawelo; daughters Kawena and Kawekiu; hanai children Debbie Gomes, Isaac and Patricia Dikilato, and Cody Hoffman; mother Alvina Puaoi; brothers Manu and Leif Mokuahi; sisters Stephanie Arakaki, Nala Palma and Nue Jerome; step-siblings Edward, George, William, Geneallan and Maryann Puaoi, Kapio Inoke and Nani Hill; and two grandchildren.
