74Benjamin "Uncle Ben" Torres, 76, of Mountain View, Hawaii, a retired mason for E.E. Black Construction on Oahu, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Rosemarie; son David; daughters Bernadette Salas and Gertrude D. Malupo; stepsons Harold J. Jr., Olival J. and Tom G. Germano, and Anthony Maldonado; sisters Mabel Garcia, Bella Flores, Josephine Nash, Barbara Jackson and Betty Lou Torres; 27 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Private services.
