ROBERT (BOB) EDWARD BJERKE
ROBERT (BOB) EDWARD BJERKE Robert (Bob) Edward Bjerke passed away July 20, 2012, at his home in Las Vegas. Bob was born in Valley City, North Dakota, the son of Henry Clayton and Emma Bjerke. He received his BA and Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota. Bob moved to Honolulu in 1962 to start his own commercial real estate development company. He developed the first enclosed shopping center in Hilo and later Prince Kuhio Plaza. He received special recognition from the Hawaii House of Representatives for his support of The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands. Bob was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Navy League, the National Council of Shopping Center Developers, Central Union Church, Waialae CC, and the Pacific Club. Bob is survived by his wife, Libby (Darline), their two children, Dr. H. Scott Bjerke (Janet) and Heather Dickinson (Mark), and his three grandsons, Chris and Henry Dickinson and Duncan Bjerke. His ashes will be spread in the Pacific Ocean across from his long time home. Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Hawaii or Punahou School.
