Bernard "Sonny" Calvo, 72, of Hilo, a former state Department of Transportation groundskeeper at the 14th Coast Guard District Base, messenger for the office of Gov. Burns and Goodwill Industries of Honolulu, and a mechanic, died at home. He was born in North Kohala, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Priscilla J.; son Leighton; daughter Moana Faleao; brother William Alpiche; sisters Dora Caravalho, Mary Anderson, Carmen Murai and Madeline Gonsalves; and four grandchildren. Celebration of life: 9 a.m. Saturday at Panaewa Park, 33 Noeau St. Additional visitation: 8 a.m. Nov. 3 at Hawi Sacred Catholic Church. Mass: 10 a.m. Urn burial to follow at Hawi Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
