ROY FREDRICK OLSEN
ROY FREDRICK OLSEN Roy Fredrick Olsen, 89, passed away on February 15, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fredrick and Wilhelmina Olsen, brother and four sisters. Born on April 19, 1923, Roy grew up on the Waipahu plantation and in Manoa; graduating from Roosevelt High in 1941. He served in the Army and Navy during World War II, after which he worked for Hawaiian Electric until retiring in 1979. Roy was a great athlete and avid sports fan who coached and mentored youth, including his son and grandchildren. He was a jack-of-all-trades who could build and fix anything. Roy was a loving husband and a dedicated father and grandfather. His kindness knew no bounds. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, zest for life, and love for his family and island home. He will be greatly missed by the love of his life of 64 years, Sharon (Burnett) Olsen; his children, Debra (John) Stewart, Richard (Bridget) Olsen; and 7 grandchildren: David Andrade, Michael, Michelle & John Stewart, and Heather, Richard & Alessandra Olsen; nieces and nephews, and all his many friends. Visitation will begin at 5:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Nu'uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary. Services will begin at 6:00pm. Aloha attire. Private burial will be held at the Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery in Kaneohe.
