James Keola Hanoa, 78, of Waiohinu, Hawaii, a retired welder, rancher and horse trainer, died at home. He was born in Pahala, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Winifred "Pele," son Pernell, daughter Jo-Evan Hudoba, stepsons Ralph P. and Raymond W. Dedman, stepdaughter Georgia Dods, sisters Caroline Hada and Leocardia Gouveia, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
