Sophie Frances Olive Kalanikini Piko, 84, of Kailua-Kona, a retired catechism instructor and state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations counselor, died in Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by sons Joseph N. III and Paul; daughters Laida K. Piko, Deedee Furtado and Maureen Giron; brother Samuel Nahoopii Jr.; sisters Gladys Hoe and Maryanne Dudoit; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 2 p.m. March 14 at A Hui Hou Crematory and Funeral Home, Kailua-Kona. Additional visitation: 9 a.m. March 15 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass: 11 a.m. Burial: 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
