73Derrik D. Tomas, 53, of Hilo, a security guard, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He is survived by wife Valaree Shire-Tomas, daughters Shannon and Lorena Shire, father Jaime Sr., mother Julia B., stepmother Mary, brother Jaime Jr., and sisters Cencia Chun and Desiree Medeiros. Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at Hilo Church of God. Services: 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. No flowers.
