FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Valentina Lang Lui-Kwan
VALENTINA LANG LUI-KWAN of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at her home in Nu'uanu on March 20, 2013. Born in Hilo on October 6, 1920 to Dr. Lang Kit and Anastasia Lang. Graduate of Hilo High School. Survived by her children, Benedict, Ivan (Frances), Gregory (Nancy), Timothy (Marty), Anne (Daniel, Jr) Akaka, Valerie, James (Lynda), Randal (Julia), Nicola Giardina, and Alexander (Natalie); 23 grandchildren & 9 great- grandchildren. Val truly embraced the spirit of aloha & 'ohana as loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who loved to travel the world. Like her father, she practiced and shared her knowledge of medicinal herbs. Val worked at the Hilo Tribune Herald as a proof reader, Bishop Trust as a commercial property underwriter, KMC as an office administrator, and the State Legislature. An active member of St. Joseph's, St. Stephen's & Blessed Sacrament Catholic Churches, she had a deep spiritual faith with great devotion to all saints, especially Fr. Damien & St. Marianne Cope. Visitation 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Nu'uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, East Chapel; Rosary & Service at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 10:00 am Latin Mass (Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church). Burial at 11:30 am National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Aloha attire.
