Douglas Gernler, 82, of Mountain Grove, Mo., formerly of Waiahole Valley, a Hawaii Laborers' Union retiree and an Army veteran, died in Houston, Mo. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Sarah; sons Philip, Doug and Zachary; daughters Siliala Castillo and Tisha Gernler; stepson Daniel Casey Jr.; stepdaughters Maria Colaccino, Chari Casey and Catherine Bushong; six grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Services and scattering of ashes: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kualoa Beach Park. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
