Shoji Taketa, 85, of Honalo, Hawaii, an Islander Inn maintenance retiree and former employee at Parker Ranch and JM Tanaka, died at home. He was also a Hawaii Army National Guardsman and an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was born in Kainaliu, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Charlene; sons Gregory, Mark, Andrew and Thomas; daughters Irene Adams, Shorene Akiona, Lori Ann Strolberg, Pearl Muraki and Priscilla Lovejoy; brothers Sunao and Takashi; 33 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4:30 p.m. Friday at Lanakila Congregational Church, Kainaliu. Services: 5:30 p.m. Burial: 9 a.m. Saturday at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
