Willie Kapahikaua Kalei III, 57, of Hilo, a Queen Lili‘uokalani Children's Center community builder facilitator, Hilo Family Guidance Center case manager and Ka‘u MacNut Farms irrigation manager, died. He also was an Army veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was born in Fort Dix, N.J. He is survived by wifeDonnalyn N.; sons Trace K. Kalei, and William K. and Edward M. Johns; daughters Hope N. and Heather N. Kalei, and Jacqueline K. Johns; mother Bernadette "Lani" Chase; brother Samuel; and sisters Katherina Mendenhall, MaryFrancis and Iwalani Kalei, and Barbara Jean Nesbitt. Visitation: 5 p.m. Friday at Holy ApostlesEpiscopal Church, 1407 Kapiolani St., Hilo. Celebration of life:6 p.m. Additional visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Mass:11 a.m. Scattering of ashes: 9 a.m. June 2 at Kamehameha Canoe Club, Hilo. Casual attire.
