JOHN L. GILBERT Age 82 of Honolulu, HI, passed away May 17 in Honolulu. He was born in Brisbane, Australia. He spent his career in the reinsurance industry as President of John Gilbert Intermediary Group in NYC and previously Vice President at AIG in NYC. In Hawaii he served as President of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce and a board member of DTRIC Insurance, and he was a member of the Honolulu Lawn Bowls Club. He was an avid rugby player and life saver in his youth and a passionate world traveller throughout his life. He is survived by his wife Chizumi Gilbert of Honolulu, two sons Sean and Giles Gilbert of Massachusetts and New Jersey, two daughters Samantha Gilbert and Sydney Werner of NYC and Rhode Island, a sister Gloria Williams of Brisbane, Australia and eight grand- children. Funeral services Friday noon, Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace, 1184 Bishop St, Honolulu. No flower arrangements.
