Patrick Vanderford MarkhamPATRICK VANDERFORD MARKHAM (77),
passed away at home in Fountain Valley, CA, on May 14, 2013, with his family by his side. Patrick was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Mabel Markham, his brother, Clarence Markham Jr. and son, Glenn Markham. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Emily, sons Bradford Markham, Van Markham, Patrick Markham Jr., Richard Markham, sisters Winifred Harris and Valerie Andrews, brother Marvin Markham (Sayoko) and several nieces, nephews and grand- children. On August 1st, 1935, Patrick was the 1st baby born in Damon Tract, Hon, HI. After graduating from St. Louis High School in1953, he joined the US Army and served in TX, KY and Germany. He returned to HI and drove the bus for HRT, then joined a construction firm in Kwajalein, and finally moved to CA to enjoy a successful career in the petroleum industry from which he retired in 1997. Patrick was a simple, caring and honest person, who practiced his faith in deeds rather than words. He was always available to extend a helping hand to anyone in need and was referred to by some in the neighborhood as "St Patrick". He never turned anyone away. One individual commented, "Patrick is the only true Christian I've ever known". He gave so much. Patrick, we were so lucky to have you. You will be missed by all the lives you've touched. Visitation and services will be held on June 10th, 8:30am at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Burial to follow at 10am, Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
