GARY TETSUO HAYASHI 69, of Honolulu, passed away on April 18, 2013, in Osaka, Japan, where he lived with his wife, Sanae Umeda. Gary was an English instructor at Kansai University for 10 years. Gary graduated from the University of Hawaii Laboratory School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He served 4 years in the U.S. Army as a Captain. Gary was known for his kindness and compassionate ways. He worked for the Office of Equal Opportunity and served as a director of Headstart on the Big Island. He was also a realtor, insurance agent and financial planner. Gary is also survived by sisters, Joan Oya, Janet Fujioka, Betty Nishihara and brother-in-law, Lloyd Nishihara. Visitation from 3:00 p.m. and service at 4:00 p.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
