HOWARD PAUL MCKAUGHAN July 5, 1922 - November 28, 2013 Howard McKaughan, a linguistics educator/scholar, and son of Paul and Edith (Barton) McKaughan, was born on July 5, 1922 in Owensmouth (now Canoga Park), California. In 1943 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Budroe. She was his life-long partner of over 61 years until she passed away in 2005. He worked at the University of Hawai'i from 1963 - 1988 and was named Professor Emeritus. He lived in McMinnville and Dayton, Oregon for the past 25 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, four brothers, one sister, and daughter, Edith Rosen. He will be greatly missed by many and is survived by daughters Charlotte Barnhart (Dayton, OR), Patricia Pike (Whittier, CA), Barbara Bell (Dayton, OR), and Judith Rudebusch (Irving, TX); 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Above all, Howard Paul McKaughan spent his entire life in service to his savior, Jesus Christ. He passed into the presence of his Lord on November 28, 2013 at age 91.
