Joseph M. "Joe" Blackstad, 84, of Waimea, Kauai, a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, and a Marine Corps veteran, died. He was born in Waimea. He is survived by wife Mary, son Joedy, daughter Joelyn Major, brothers Stanley and Robert "Bobby," sister Florence "Tootsie" Kajiwara, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Friday at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. Services: 7 p.m. Casual attire.
