FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DIANE L. TAKEMOTO
DIANE L. TAKEMOTO Diane passed away peacefully on August 13, 2014, at the age of 67 surrounded by her family including Randy, Darcie, Daniel and Darren. She spent her early childhood in Kaka'ako with siblings Sandra, Lance and Fay prior to the family moving to Pearl City. She graduated from Waipahu High School and then earned her Bachelor's degree in English at UH Manoa. She served as editor-in-chief of the UH newspapers, Ka Leo O Hawaii and Ka Nuhou Kau Wela. Later, she served as Senator Daniel Akaka's first press secretary when he ran for Lieutenant Governor. She was an English teacher for over 30 years mostly at Kaimuki Middle School and Niu Valley Intermediate School. Her students learned the positive adage: "It's your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude." Her love for the Dallas Cowboys was profoundly displayed in her classroom. Diane also had a love for baseball. She volunteered much of her time to her sons' baseball teams where she became "Coach T". She spent much of her retired days caring for her family and catching up on hobbies such as reading, listening to oldies, playing fantasy baseball, and trips to Las Vegas.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
