ELOISE KAM SUN LEONGELOISE KAM SUN LEONG Eloise Kam Sun Leong, who recently celebrated her 91st birthday, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2014. Born on August 2, 1923 in Honolulu, Elo was preceded in death by her parents Hung Lau and Mabel Mau Leong, siblings Alvin, Henry and Loretta Mau. She is survived by brother Edmund (Joycelyn) and brother-in-law Robert Mau, and many nieces and nephews and their families. A graduate of McKinley High School, Elo worked for Hawaiian Electric Company for several years. On March 1,1949, Elo was hired as a typist for the Land Department of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. During her illustrious career she served in various supervisory positions in most of the company's financial departments. After 33 years of faithful service she retired on September 1, 1983. Elo was a member of many Chinese benevolent societies, most notably Leong Soong Duck Tong, Mau Society of Hawaii and See Dai Doo Society. She was a fanatic when it came to sports at the University of Hawaii, primarily football, volleyball and basketball and more so for any wahine teams. Without question of course, golf icons Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie were her idols. An Aloha Memorial Service celebrating Elo's wonderful life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Diamond Head Memorial Park Chapel. Visitation at 9:30am; Service 10:30am; Lunch to follow. Elo's request to scatter her ashes at Kahala Beach Park will be private. Monetary offerings received will be donated to Islands Hospice, which provided much comfort and love during Elo's last days here with us. With God's blessings, mercy and love we will all eventually be with Elo at her final home in Heaven.
