NORIO "JOHNNY" FUNAMOTO
8-31 NORIO FUNAMOTONORIO JOHNNY FUNAMOTO October 16, 1921 - August 8, 2014 Norio Funamoto passed away on August 8, 2014 at the age of 92 at Kaiser Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born on October 16, 1921 in Ewa, Hawaii. He retired as the Carpenter Foreman for K. Nakano Contractor Inc. He was past President, officer and advisor for many Japanese cultural clubs, Kumamoto Ken Jin Kai, Honolulu Yamaguchi Ken Jin Kai, Iwakuni Shi Jin Kai and Iwakuni Jin Kai. He was also the Reception Chair and advisor of the United Japanese Society of Hawaii, and advisor of the Hanayagi Dancing Academy. He is survived by daughter Jennifer and husband Eric Kuniyoshi; grandson James and wife Kelli Kuniyoshi; sister Tsuruko Funamoto of Kumamoto, Japan. He is also survived by sister in law and brother in law, Shirley and William Nakamura, sisters in law Tomiye Nakano, Kazuko Nakano, and Frances Nakano, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Hawaii, California, Oregon, New York, Japan and China. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation is at 5:00 p.m. and Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Aloha attire.
