Gerald L. "Jerry" Reiss, 79, of Kurtistown, Hawaii, a member of the Volcano Community Emergency Response Team, a retired Navy chief petty officer who served in the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Bronze Star and South Vietnamese Training Service Medal, died in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Indianapolis. He is survived by wife Patricia Jean, sisters Victoria Lyons and Miriam Cook, and numerous children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Orchidland Chapel. Graveside services: 9 a.m. Monday at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
