NOREEN (RENA) KA LEO O KE KAI KAUAHIKAUA
NOREEN (RENA) KA LEO O KE KAI KAUAHIKAUA Age 52, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on March 4, 2015 in Poughkeepsie. Born January 13, 1963 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Leilehua High, Class of 81. After college in Pocatello, Idaho, Rena became an au pair, a job that took her New York. She surrounded herself with the Bahai community, many of whom would become lifelong friends and family. She was generous to those around her and enjoyed teaching children the lessons of the Bahai Faith and serving her community. Born with Spina Bifida and spending much of her childhood at Honolulu Shriners Hospital, our sister Rena never allowed physical obstacles to stand in the way of her goals. She rode the bus to her long commute of sixty miles to MasterCard daily, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. She travelled the world fearlessly and boldly spoke her mind, making an indelible impression on those who met her. In a word, she was unstoppable and she will be truly missed. She is survived by husband, John Davis Watson; step- daughter Bahiyyah Maroon and step-grandson Elijah Hosien; brothers, Javan Kauahikaua, Kennard Hicks; sisters, Marianette "Girlie" Kauahikaua, Mary Speed, Lalita Simple, Tricia Rosa and Trinda Freitas; 38 nieces and nephews; and godchildren Zia and Jarrett Foxhall. Rena is buried in the Bahai section of Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill St, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. Donations in her honor can be made to Shriners Hospital Honolulu. Memories posted on Facebook, "Celebration of Rena Kauahikaua's Life".
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
