Miriam Meleana "Toots" Peterson
MIRIAM MELEANA TOOTS PETERSON Age 91, of Kane`ohe, Hawai`i, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on March 22, 2015. Miriam was surrounded by love as she journeyed "Home" to be with our Almighty Ke Akua. She will see her husband of nearly 65 years, Orlan, daughter Miriam K. "Pinky", grandson David Allen, her parents, four brothers and a sister. She will also enjoy the fellowship of all of our departed Christian soldiers. Miriam was born in North Kohala on the island of Hawai`i to David Ah You Akui and Sarah Kahele (Kalua) Akui. She was one of eight children raised in Kane`ohe. She is survived by two siblings, Grace Kahele Shiroma of Kane`ohe (her next door neighbor) and Moses Akui of Delaware. Miriam graduated from Benjamin Parker School in Kane`ohe. She met and married Orlan L. Peterson and moved to the mainland. Years later, they moved back and resided in Kane`ohe and raised their family. Survivors - Children: Lt. Col. Orlan L. "Bud" (Pam) Peterson, Jr. of Nevada, Sharen J. Umiamaka, Alexandria "Sandy" Fergerstrom (Brad Lum), Lynne Marie (Wendell) Mossman of Kane`ohe and Grace K. "Lani" (Guy) Seiki of Maui: 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grand- children, 14 great-great-grand- children.
