Akira "Oka" Okamoto, 93, of Honolulu, a retired carpenter, an Army veteran who served in World War II with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Cannon Company, and a Purple Heart recipient, died in Aloha Nursing & Rehab Centre. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by daughters Dorene K. Boon and Darlene T. Larimore, brothers George Y. and Richard T., and sisters Martha H. Ohtani and Sumiko Ching. Visitation: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
