He is survived by his wife Marta, daughter Lydia, son Amiel, and grandson Alessandro. Dr. Porta began his medical career in Argentina at the Children's Hospital of Buenos Aires in 1949. In 1957 he accepted a position at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1961 he relocated to Albany, New York, to work at Union University as a Research Associate. In 1963, he took a position at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. In 1971, he relocated his family to what would become his beloved new home Honolulu, Hawaii, to become a Professor of Pathology and researcher at John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. In his 31 years at the University of Hawaii, Eduardo's dedication and passion for his work led him to serve in many leadership capacities. * Member of the Executive Committee Hawaii Families and Friends of Schizophrenics 1982-1987. * National Institutes of Health, Division of Research Grants 1993-2002. * Chairman, Bio-Science Research Symposium Committee, UH School of Medicine, 1974-1982. * President, Sixth International Symposium on Lipofusion and Ceroid Pigments, University of Hawaii 2001. * Session Chairman, 9th Congress of the Association of Biomedical Gerontology, Vancouver Canada. 2001. His distinguished Professorship at UH lasted until his retirement as Emeritus Professor in 2002. Medical research was Dr. Eduardo Porta's passion and love, second only to his family and close friends. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace on the island that he loved (and in the company of his eldest son, Eduardo Dante Porta, who preceded him in 1987). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Islands Hospice in his memory. GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE 12:45 P.M. FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2015 AT DIAMOND HEAD MEMORIAL PARK.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
