RAYMOND SHIMOOKA Oct 3, 2015 Raymond Shimooka, of Aiea, passed away at Tripler Army Medical Center at the age of 84 surrounded at his bedside by his immediate family. Raymond was born in Papa'aloa, Hawaii, the son of Rikimatsu Shimooka and Mary Kame'ehonua. He was the ninth child in a family of eleven children. Raymond was honored to have completed 40 years of federal government service. He retired from the United States Army with service in the Vietnam War, and retired from Pearl Harbor Naval Supply Center. Raymond is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Ruth Moniz, his two sons Jeffrey Shimooka and Russell Shimooka, four grandchildren Tara Shimooka, Summit Shimooka, Sierra Shimooka, and Jade Shimooka, and his sister Janet Vicari. A celebration of life takes place Wednesday October 14, 2015, at Borthwick Mortuary on Maunakea Street in Honolulu. Visitation begins at 10am, memorial service at 11:00am, followed by a lunch. For those wishing to attend Raymond's internment at the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, service will be at 3pm. Flowers are accepted.
