DOROTHY B. SMITH After 9 years of fighting Breast Cancer, the toughest battle life put forth, Dorothy Brigette Artango Smith passed peacefully in the comfort of her home, enveloped in the love of her family in Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday, October 1st 2015. Born February 19, 1968 in Daru Western Papua to the late Ernest Artango and Nancy (Tanaka) Artango. She is survived by her husband, Timothy J. Smith and their 4 children; Bresley, Arielle, Alysa and Beaudion; Mother Nancy and siblings - Louise, Dale, Ernie, Vallyn and Anthony of Brisbane, Australia. She was talented in many areas however, her love for children stood out immensely, enabling her to thrive not only as a mother of her own children, but the many children she fostered. She enjoyed all that nature had to offer and had an incredible fascination with traveling. Despite Dorothy's daily battles with cancer, she would still place the welfare of others before her own. Her drive and compassion was nothing short of monumental, and anything was possible with her optimistic attitude. Dorothy was persistent with her studies and in 2011, she earned a degree of Associate in Arts in Business Administration from Chaminade University. After this accomplishment, she went on to become a teacher for primary students at Makalapa Elementary School. Dorothy was the epitome of strength and never failed to display traits of her resilience. Although gone today and incredibly missed, her legacy and memories will live on. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday October 16, at 12:30 pm at the Moanalua Mortuary, 1150 Kikowaena Street 96819.
