("Alec") Ramos took his last breath here on earth, then took his first exhale in heaven on Thursday, 10/8/15. He died at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Clara, surrounded by his family, after complications from open-heart surgery. He fought a valiant fight, but it was his destiny. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii at Kapiolani Maternity Hospital. The youngest of 10 children, he was preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio and Pelagia Ramos and siblings Lorraine Wiles, Antonio (Tony) Ramos, Inocente (Eddie) Ramos, Conchita (Connie) Neal, Joseph, Gregorio, and George who died in infancy. In early years he grew up in the Palolo district and in Aliamanu. He graduated from Radford High School in 1961. Alec was Hawaii's first Rock N' Roll star to come from the 50th State. He was 15 years old when discovered by Tom Moffat, well-known radio DJ and promoter. The late Earl Finch, who gave him the stage name, "Ronnie Diamond", managed his career. He toured the east and west coasts and performed on the Dick Clark Show, American Band Stand. His songs "Close to My Heart", "Something's Wrong With Me", and "Tell Me" remained on Hawaii's hit list for weeks! His records continue to be classics of the Rock N' Roll era in Hawaii. After moving to the mainland Alec continued to perform in nightclubs throughout Southern California. After his retirement from BioRad Laboratories, in Hercules, CA, he focused his time and talents in ministry singing at nursing and retirement homes. His beautiful singing voice and charismatic personality touched many lives. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma Jean, executive director of the Christian Help Center, his four children and their spouses, Sharon (John Quintos), Debra (Arnel Pacanza), Alex Jr., and Jeanal Ramos. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, brother John Ramos and sister, Sally Dizon. His priorities in life were God, family, and singing. He will be missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, from 3-10 p.m., Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 10 a.m., Lords Fellowship Church - Mare Island, 1055 Azuar Drive Vallejo.
