MABEL C.K. LEONG
$nameMRS. MABEL C.K. LEONG Mrs. Mabel C.K. Leong, age 98, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Mrs. Leong was a long-time resident of Maui and Oahu. Prior to the development, of what is now known as Wailea, she and her predeceased husband, George, were recognized as early "pioneers" in Kihei, Maui. The entire area was known as Kihei, (not Kihei and Wailea separately) and were primarily large single family house lots, and planted kiawe trees. She and her husband, owned and operated the first open-air movie theatre and food stand on Maui, in Kihei, during World War II. Mrs. Leong is survived by daughters, Mrs. Robin-Claire L. Mann, Mrs. Penny (Peter) Kasten, and Mrs. Suzanne (Kent) Parra; grandchildren, Mrs. Lorie (Brad) Granger, Mr. Gregg Kasten, Mrs. Krista (Brett) Withee, Ms. Stacie Parra, Mrs. Kim (Brian) Byrnes, Mr. Scott Parra; sister, Mrs. Bernice Mau; brothers, Mr. Ronald Chong Kee, Kenneth Chong Kee, and Lawrence Chong Kee; 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, at Holy Trinity Church in Honolulu at 4-5pm with a memorial mass at 5pm. Visitation on Maui is scheduled on Saturday, October 24, from 10-11am at Christ The King Church in Kahului, followed by a mass, and burial at Maui Memorial Park.
