“BILL” DONALD WILLIAM WOOD
BILL DONALD WILLIAM WOOD "Bill" Donald William Wood MPH, PhD passed away at 69 years of age in Honolulu. He was born in Regina Saskatchewan to the late Gordon and Elmona Wood. Bill is survived by wife Sandie, son Patrick, and cousins. He was especially fond of nephew-in law Mark (Twyla) Foley and brother in law Scott (Jackie) Park. Bill started his career as a social worker in Qu'Appelle Region, Saskatchewan, a move in 1973 put him in charge of the first Rehabilitation Program in Canada's Yukon. The program still exists as the Challenge Community Vocational Alternatives. From the Yukon to University of Hawaii Manoa where he completed graduate degrees in public health and sociology. His life was dedicated to Public Service and love of teaching, research and mentoring students at Manoa. He enjoyed travelling, working on projects in many Pacific Islands, and teaching in Bangkok, Australia, and Alaska. Bill served on local and national boards, often as chair as well as research and international working groups. A celebration of his "retirement" will be held on April 2, 2016 at Kaneohe Yacht Club.
