$nameBARBARA ONDER TRACY Born 27 August 1939 at Saint Vincents Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Only child of parents Helen and Steve Onder, who resided in Bridgeport. Graduate of Lauralton Hall High School Academy of our Lady of Mercy in Milford, Conneticut and Annhurst college for women in Woodstock, Conneticut. As a Navy Lieutenant, Barbara received recognition as the outstanding young woman of the year 1968 as published in the Chicago Biographical Publication and was subsequently designated as a distinguished and prestigious member of Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society. Employed as accountant and private secretary to Remington Arms Corporation Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Secretary to the President of the Company. Attended US Navy Officer Candidate School at Newport Rhode Island with subsequent commission as an Ensign US Navy on 23 April 1965. Initial duty station at Naval Investigative Service, New Orleans Louisiana. It was here that she met her husband to be, L.R. Skip Tracy, who she married 29 April 1966, 46 years ago. Transferred to CINCPACFLT Hawaii in 1966 serving in the personnel division with following duty as the CINCPACFLT Protocol Officer. Later transferred to the CINCPACFLT Admirals personal staff and served as aide to Admiral Bernard Cleary and Admiral Maurice F. Weisner (both 4 Star admirals). Follow on transfer to Admiral Weisner's personal staff at CINCPAC and was an an aide to the Admiral. Transferred in 1980 to Yokosuka, Japan on COMNAVFORJAPAN staff. Served as department head and became aide to the Admiral. Her final duty assignment was as Commanding Officer Personal Support Activity Far East with command of 7 detachments in the Western Pacific. Barbara was the first female Navy commanding officer in the Western Pacific area. After her change of command as Commanding Officer PSAFE in August 1985, she retired from the US Navy to reside on the beautiful Island of Oahu, Hawaii. ACHIEVEMENTS Military Awards: Two (2) Navy Commendation Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal. Obtained a Master's Degree in Personnel Management from Central Michigan University with a grade average of 3.6 and Summa Cum Laude. Served on the Board of Directors USO Hawaii for several years. Served with strong support to Toastmasters Organization for several years while stationed in Japan. Member and active supporter of various Ladies Red Hat Societies. Exceptional bridge player and participated in various ladies card groups. Served several years on the Board of Directors (including 3 years as President) for the Pearl Harbor Performing Arts Association and participated as Dancer and model in stage shows. Joined a Hawaiian Hula Halau as dancer for 7 years and served on their Board of Directors. Deeply religious, most active member of Holy Trinity church and the church Cancer Support group. Served as Eucharistic minister and Lector in Church. Strongly supported numerous Navy Chaplains while on Active Duty. Proud to serve in the US Navy as a Naval Officer, loved God and country and our American Flag. FUNERAL SERVICES: Civilian attire will be appropriate at all services. Services will be conducted on Wednesday 16 December 2015 as follows: Holy Trinity Church 5919 Kalanianaole Hwy. Honolulu, HI 96821 (808) 396-0551. 10:00 am Celebration of Life Service at Holy Trinity Church. 11:00 am Catholic Mass at Holy Trinity Church. 1:00 pm Military Services at Punch Bowl Cemetary with full Military Honors. DONATIONS: In leiu of flowers, monitary donations will go to the US Navy and Marine Corps Relief Thrift Shop on the Pearl Harbor Naval Base. Donations should be delivered to The Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to Barbara's husband. Skip will hand deliver all donations in total, to the Relief Shop Management for our Navy and Marine Corp, and their families.
