Joseph Richard Brun, 84, of Koloa, Kauai, a retired director for the United Public Workers Union and the state of Hawaii, and an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, died at home. He was born in Eleele, Kauai. He is survived by wife Martina "Tina"; sons Peter and Paul; daughters Polly Lee, Penny Vess and Patti "Peejay" Brun; sisters Beatrice Canno and Margaret Routt; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Jan. 2 at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Mass: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
