CHARLES "CHUCK" R. LYDEN Chuck mercifully and unexpectedly passed away while he slept after he completed his favorite late night walk. Chuck will be remembered as a true public servant. His devotion was to his church, his family, his friends, and all of humanity. His professional career began through volunteerism in VISTA and serving in Watts, LA. That was just the beginning. In Hawaii, he began in the hotel industry and then dedicated himself to the elderly, AIDS afflicted, Parkinson patients, Alzheimers, etc. He was never driven by money but enjoyed his academics, his travel and giving away most of what he earned. There is not one friend that he met that hasn't been deeply impacted by the joy of being in his presence. He had double advanced degrees in business and in public health. Even after his retirement he had a place to serve in the medical school. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Lyden, seven siblings, and 35 +/- nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory will be gratefully accepted by the Hawaii AIDS Community Care Team 4224 Waialae Ave, Honolulu HI 96816. Services will be held on Oct 4th at 10 am at Borthwick Mortuary 1130 Maunakea Street, Honolulu, HI 96814. Arrangements Provided By: Borthwick Mortuary
