Howard Takeru Awakuni 94, of Kaneohe, a retired carpenter at Fort Shafter, died on September 6, 2016 in Kaneohe. He was born in Honomu, Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Grace M., son, Lyle T., daughters, April A. Kobayashi, Cindie T. Awakuni-Lee, Donna K. Awakuni-Swetland; brother Yoshio; 4 grandchildren. Visitation 9 a.m. October 22, 2016 @ Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services 10 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
