William Masayuki Araki
William "Bill" Masayuki Araki, 87, died peacefully on July 15, 2017 at Pohai Nani. He was born to James and Momoye Araki. Bill was raised in Haleiwa and graduated from Waialua High, UH and Pepperdine. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded a bronze star and UN service medal. He held various positions at the Dept. of Education as a teacher, vice-principal, deputy and district superintendent and personnel officer. Survived by children, Dawn (Alvin) Arasato, Darlene (Robert) Chai, Twila (Eliseo) Cuenca, Charles Araki, Robert (Grace) Araki, Nellani (Bernard) Asato and Jon (Beryl) Tyau, 17 grand- children, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, James (Shannon) Araki and sister, Flora Araki Kinoshita. Visitation 5:30 pm, service 6:30 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2017, Mililani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel.
