FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ALICE K. YODER
ALICE K. YODER96, died June 14 after a brief illness. Born in Kenya to missionary parents, she grew up in Fresno, CA, attended high school in South Carolina, graduated from Fresno State University, and married Paul Yoder. Living on Oahu since 1961, Alice worked for many years as 'The Simplicity Lady,' presenting Simplicity Pattern fashion shows with High School Home Economic classes throughout the Islands. While earning her M.A. she taught at the U.H. School of Fashion Design and Merchandising until retirement. Following Paul's death she traveled many times back to Kenya, supporting AIDS orphanages there and raising money for a well, a commercial generator, computer network, surgical lighting, and many other needed improvements for the small hospital built where she was born. She made her last trip there at 94. A faithful follower of Jesus, Alice was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Koolau until her death and was recognized for her many contributions with a Lifetime Honorary Membership in the Presbyterian Women's Fellowship. Alice is survived by children Dianne Yoder of Walnut Creek, CA; Marilyn Yoder Creel of Visalia, CA; Janice Yoder Jewell of Spokane, WA; Paul Yoder, Jr. of Seattle, WA; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A service celebrating her amazing life will be held on July 7 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Koolau, visitation at 8:30 a.m.
