Modesto Victor “Sonny”
MODESTO VICTOR "SONNY" KAULULAAU RAMOS, JR. 78 of Mililani, HI, passed away May 25, 2018 at home. He was born on December 17, 1939 in Honolulu, HI, the eldest of 10 children raised in Haleiwa. He graduated from Waialua High School (class of 1958) and attended Church College of Hawaii (B.Y.U.), where he met then married Nellie (deceased 1989) and was blessed with six children. He worked for the State of Hawaii at Halawa Jail, as a Jail Guard; also for The State, Public Safety Dept. as a Deputy Sheriff (E.H.), for the D.O.E. as a School Safety Manager, and as a Law Enforcement Officer with Airport Security (Securitas). However, the major portion of his law enforcement career was as a Police Officer with the Honolulu Police Department, where he proudly served for over 31 years. Predeceased by: Nellie (first wife), Modesto V. Ramos, Sr. (Father), Brothers: Reginald, Roland, Harold, Glenn, Michael. Survived by: Eileen M. Ramos (wife), Lydia Walker (mother) Children: Peaches (Seo Foo) Dang, Ramona (Nick) Corish, Victor "Kawika" (Cinda) Ramos, Modesto V. "Lii" (Julie) Ramos, III, Kevin "Pono" (Raechel) Ramos, Kim (Bryan) Boteilho. Brother: Maurice, Sisters: Lorraine Tam, Yolanda Freitas, Elnora "Nani" (Gary) Barbadillo. Grandchildren 14, Great Grandchildren 13 and many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. Our family was truly blessed to have had him in our lives, leaving a legacy of strength and integrity wrapped in love. He was proud of his Hawaiian heritage, he had a fierce warrior spirit and a fervent sense of duty and fairness. Sonny was a man with strong faith in our Lord. A celebration of life will be held at Mililani Memorial Park, Waipio, Mauka Chapel on July 18, 2018, Wednesday. Visitation at 9:00 am, service at 10:00 am, burial at 12:30 with lunch to follow.
